Dr. Stephen Lau
Dr. Stephen Lau was born and raised near Toronto and obtained his medical degree with honors from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. After working as a junior doctor in London, he traveled to the US to complete his general surgery internship/ophthalmology residency at Bronx Care Health System in New York City where he served as chief resident in his final year. He pursued further training, completing a glaucoma fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Dr. Lau is a board-certified ophthalmologist, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Glaucoma Society and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is passionate about addressing unmet needs in underserved communities globally through teaching/mentorship and leveraging technological innovations, which has led to volunteer work with the Cure Blindness Project and Advanced Center for Eyecare Global. He strives to practice with an individualized approach to improving his patients’ quality of life by navigating the numerous existing and emerging technologies and treatment approaches available. He enjoys travelling, cooking, hiking and spending time with his wife and two cats in his spare time
